Growing Up: Briley

What a precious boy Briley is! Every moment for him is a new adventure, and he is so curious to learn! I met Briley's parents, Britt and Holly, for their little one's shoot in Troutman NC. They live on this unbelievable land with gorgeous open pastures. We finished the shoot nearby at Briley's Granny's house with all of her horses and hay bails.  Briley loves Granny's house. He was quite a trooper for his shoot considering he had a run-in with the pavement about half way through. I tried my best to disguise the giant bruise that quickly formed on his forehead...but you may be able to catch a tiny glimpse of his boo boo. To all of you mom's out there- I don't know how you do it! I just hate seeing little ones fall! I guess at 21 months old bumps, bruises and scratches are just everyday life for toddlers. Enjoy some of sweet Briley's photos. Try not to drool over his unbelievably long lashes and beautiful blue eyes!

I literally laughed out loud at my computer when I saw this one. I love it!

That's right- eat your heart out ladies!

Then the big fall....the bruise started out not so bad. Poor baby! Luckily the horses at Granny's made him happy!

Phew! Farm life is hard work!

Engagement: Christy and Andrew

I knew that Christy and Andrew were going to be a ton of fun to shoot when I met Christy for the first time and she immediately let me know that "all those crazy photos you have ever wanted to try out- try them on us". Christy is a photographer in Seattle, so she was a breeze to work with! I have known Andrew since high school, but within minutes of meeting Christy I knew he had met his match. They are wild and crazy while at the same time deeply thoughtful. They love life. We met for their engagement shoot in Hendersonville, starting our journey at the Wrinkled Egg and finishing by the rolling country side where I used to romp around as a kid. You just can't beat a field full of wheat with mountains in the background. Beautiful. Christy and Andrew will tie the knot in October at probably one of the most picturesque locations in Western North Carolina. I can't wait!

Love this old pick up truck!

 One of my favorites.

Loved these! I couldn't decide which one I liked better! What do you think? The second one reminds me of the movie Signs (is that wierd?)...the records look more like saucers.

Skinny jeans and plaid shirts....what more do you need?     Probably one of my favorite shots of Christy. It is both sweet and a little sexy.

Family: The Grossman's

One thing I love about shooting kids is learning how differently they interact with me at all the different ages. I can honestly say before Monday I had never shot a four year old before...and was I in for a treat. Lucas is the most energetic, thoughtful, and flirtatious little boy you will ever meet. He has a sweet spot for his mom and dad and it is evident that he loves them dearly! His Dad, Christian, is actually German, but met his sweet wife Erin in college while in the United States on a  baseball scholarship. They have made Carrboro, NC home and it seems to be a great fit. We started their shoot at a nearby park before moving to Southern Rail and eventually finishing on Franklin Street. My sister Brook was my second shooter for the day and truly helped to capture the love of this family. Here are a few of my favorites!

A few of just Christian and Erin....so in love.

Ah the reason I love my job. I always wait for this moment...the moment the child looks at you and you feel like you just saw a brief glimpse into their heart and soul.

The many faces of Lucas...

Probably one of my very favorites....so pensive.

Just Because: Alex & Matt

This will be a quick post as I am hitting the road for Raleigh! I so enjoyed shooting Matt and Alex for their two year anniversary photo shoot last night. I could hardly wait to upload and edit some. We met in NoDa for their session. We found this neat old building and a cool looking smoke stack behind it...unfortunately we were not the only ones that liked that spot- bugs everywhere!  After enduring the heat and a massive mosquito attack we finished with some cool spots on North Tryon. I had a new understanding of one of Brad Paisley's songs as I had my husband help me check for ticks when we got home. ugh- gross. But I have to say, the old mill and this sweet couple in love made it all worth it!   Enjoy some of my favorites!

These are two of my favorites!

Love love love this old building...the sun was just beginning to go down.

Yup- they were naturals!

Love these last two...aren't Matt's shoes cool too!?
