Trey and Elizabeth: E Session

So Trey and Elizabeth tie the knot tomorrow!! Yes I did say tomorrow! I met these two in Charlotte a few weekends ago for a very quick engagement session before their big day. And wow it is going to be beautiful tommorrow. I can hardly wait to see the beautiful daffodils all over the ceremony! Elizabeth loves daffodils and with Spring peeking around the corner it is going to be a gorgeous reminder! Here are a few of my favorites from their E Session. Check back in about a week for highlights from the wedding!

We'll start one of my favorites!!!

I Do: Josh and Jess. Durham NC Wedding Photography

Jess is confident, calm and oh so genuine. Josh, also cool as a cucumber and the way he looks at Jess you know he's sure she hung the moon. It's endearing to watch. Both of them leading up to the ceremony were so focused. I mean it was really quite amazing. They definitely struck me as ready and intentional about that walk down the aisle...today was the day. What a gorgeous day it was.  About two inches of white snow covered the ground...just enough to be beautiful but not enough to keep the sun from quickly melting it off the roads. Now the temperatures- that's another story! Jess and her bridesmaids were real troopers...up for anything and all about pretending the weather couldn't be better! That's what good friends do! Melissa, Brook and I were really like kids at Christmas. I think Mel literally squealed when she saw this green wall where we captured some shots. Everything was just beautiful and our company- so much fun! The reception was held at Bay 7 in Durham which is in the Tobacco District. Holy cow was this place cool! Old brick and steel and water towers and smoke stacks I mean really neat stuff. Josh and Jess's band Another Level traveled from Richmond, VA and they had the floor packed all night! It was the kind of party where you couldn't help but smile and laugh just capturing the moments behind the lens. Josh and Jess- thank you for trusting us with your memories! Hope you enjoyed the sunny beaches of the D.R!

Ok can you blame us for being so excited about this awesome green wall! Melissa grabbed this one...and I heart it! No really- not trying to be cheesy I really do!

Mel again on this one- what else would guys do with snow but throw it!? Love!

Oh I love this one. A throw back to Abbey Road?

 Jess looked so stunning!!!!

I am in love with feathers as wedding accents. How much fun are these!!!

Ok last of the hearts I promise! But it was Valentine's Day weekend! Love the hearts.

Such a sweet candid capture by Melissa.

Everything around the church was very industrial...some may view that as a negative...but yeah we LOVED it!

Bay 7...I mean really? How amazing is the inside of this place.

Narrowing down dance shots was super hard for me...way too many fun moments to choose from.

Brook grabbed these of the band. I especially love the guitar close up!

 love love love

Sorry to sell you out guys...but they have to know you were singing Mariah Carey...it just makes this shot that much better!

Inspiring Angie

Ok so I named this post with hopes that it could live up to the title. Angie is an amazingly insightful writer and I found our time together shooting these images incredibly inspiring. I am hoping to return the favor! When Angie is not juggling the three men in her life (two little guys- one big guy) you will find her at the computer writing. Sharing thoughts, fears, insight, joy, guilt, sadness, you know those emotions and feelings and thoughts that we all have and don't always share. Her blog is just one of her many projects, as she also writes for Hybrid Mom. The book is coming...but I think the date is still being hammered out. So Angie called me needing some updated head shots, but we laughed as we were shooting together that I was giving her an album cover instead! What can I say I love to have fun and give my clients more! It's easy too when you are working with someone who is a)- incredibly photogenic and b)- willing to do more than take a photo but give you insight into their world. My goal was to listen and observe Angie and then through her photos show a side that as a busy mother of two buried in her writing she simply didn't or couldn't see. Going deeper I call it. We are so amazingly complex and God is always growing and changing and teaching us. Angie and I talked a lot about that. Because we both can look back at our lives just 5 years go and see what different people we are now! So enough of my rant- here's Angie through my lens. Enjoy!

So Long 2009....

It's so hard to believe it's been a year. One year since Erin Sage Photography made the transition from a far away dream to a reality.  It has been a year filled with some of the most wonderful people. I really cannot put into words what it is like to work hard and never feel like you have worked a day. I love my job. I am blessed to capture some of life and love's greatest moments! Thank you so much to my amazing clients who have made this year so wonderful. Also, thank you to my amazingly patient husband who saw what I could not and helped me to take the first step on this long journey.
