Capturing and documenting the world around me has always been my passion. As a child, my dream job was to write children’s books. I wrote my first kids book at age 6, became the editor of my school paper at 12, and went on to write for television news after college. However, it was when I picked up my first camera at 15 that I realized the potential of not just telling a story with words but taking people there with pictures.
The world around me comes alive through my lens. I often joke with my husband that everywhere we go and everyone we meet looks like a photograph to me! I’m just always looking through my lens.
Before pursuing my dream to become a full-time professional photographer I worked as a news anchor and reporter in Charleston South Carolina. My journalism experience has become such an important tool in capturing my client's special moments. My news background helps me to see people as stories to be told, and allows me to convey the necessary details and emotions in their photos.
