Sometimes in life we are handed opportunities and moments to love unselfishly. It's not about what we get back. Some would call this "doing good" others perhaps say it's about "good karma" or just "being a good person". If I may be a little more personal than I usually am on here, I believe that in life we are handed opportunities all the time...a chance to grow. Taking from the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew it says "Let your light shine before men that they may see your good work and glorify your Father in heaven." So let me explain how this all ties together. I will start with Jesse and David. They have dated for years and have two precious little ones together. My father called me about a week ago explaining that this young man David who worked for him some in the past is ready to get married. I said- great- when? He says- oh next weekend actually...they want to tie the knot and don't want to wait any longer and they want to make the drive down to the beach. I said great- a beach wedding- very cool. A pause on the phone...my Dad laughs...oh no Erin they want to get married in the water and I'm wondering if Matt (my husband) will marry them...and would you consider helping with just a few pictures. You see David and Jesse had never seen the ocean...put their toes in the sand...this was a big trip for them and a really big deal. So with a little planning...we pulled it together. My sweet husband stood there with David as the waves of high tide crashed into them and Jesse wearing white walked into the water for the day she had dreamed of. It was quite magical. My Dad and Mom stood on the shore with video camera in hand, and we all stepped into to be an extended family for these two for the night. It was simply a way to give time and talent to those who needed it and be a blessing to others. I was a reminder of just how much beauty there is in serving. Enjoy some images from this water wedding...
